Framework choice is the decision teams argue about most and regret least — the mainstream options are all capable, and the differences that matter are rarely the ones benchmarks measure.

What actually decides it: the rendering model you need (a static marketing site, an app behind a login, and something needing server rendering for SEO have genuinely different requirements), how much the framework decides for you, and how easily you can hire or onboard people who already know it. Ecosystem depth compounds — the library you need at month six is more likely to exist for a popular framework.

The meaningful split is between libraries that render views and full-stack frameworks that also own routing, data fetching and deployment. The latter save a lot of assembly and give up some freedom about how the pieces fit. Neither is the wrong answer; picking a full-stack framework and then fighting its conventions is.
